The Marzano Mastery Approaches National Cohort
Transforming innovative ideas into action

Implement competency-based practices in only three years

We know you are tired of hearing about the challenges facing education and are ready for actionable solutions. Marzano Resources is here to help.

Join the Marzano Mastery Approaches National Cohort where, together, we will develop a customized, three-year road map to fully implement competency-based education and support your school leadership teams successfully throughout.

A three-year plan for success in competency-based learning

School leadership teams composed of five site-based leaders (including the principal) will participate in a progressive learning plan in which the outcomes of each session build upon the learning of the prior session within and across years.

Year One: Transitioning to a Learner-Centered Learning Environment
Year Two: Implementing a Competency-Based Instructional Practice
Year Three: Leading and Sustaining Mastery-Based Learning

Each two-day session will begin with one day of learning the work followed by one day in which participants begin practicing, planning, and doing the work. During both days, teams will have access to the expertise and experience of a Marzano Resources expert such as Jan K. Hoegh, Dr. Mario I. Acosta, Dr. Tina H. Boogren, Dr. Patrick B. Hardy, and more.

At the beginning of each session, leadership teams will gather with their cohort colleagues and share their experiences by completing the prescribed action items.

At the end of each session, participants will receive action items to complete locally to:

  1. Practice new learning from the session;
  2. Build foundational learning necessary for the upcoming session; and
  3. Begin local implementation and transition to competency-based education. Leadership teams will receive support and coaching to guide local planning, practice, and implementation from an on-site Marzano Resources coach.
